Academy Programs
Classes at the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet are available for adults and children alike, offering world-class training for students of all ages, levels, and abilities.
Our Children's, Dance Lab, Pre-Professional and Adaptive Programs and Adult Division are designed to accommodate the academic and working schedules of our students and make up our Joffrey for All programming.
Our Professional Training Programs are full-time training programs that take place for the duration of our academic year. All Professional Training Programs require an audition. Students train 5-6 days a week between the hours of 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM and have multiple performance opportunities throughout the year. These programs include the Conservatory, Contemporary Ballet Trainee, and Ballet Trainee programs, as well as the Joffrey Studio Company.

Children's Program
AGES 2-12+
The Joffrey Academy’s Children’s Program builds a strong dance foundation by focusing on correct posture, placement, discipline, coordination, strength, flexibility, and musicality. This program follows a more traditional progression through Academy curriculum.
Dance Lab Program
AGES 8-18
The Joffrey Academy’s Dance Lab Program emphasizes high-quality training and a variety of disciplines for students of all levels. This program follows the same curriculum established in other Academy programs yet allows for more flexible training schedules without a required number of hours per week.
Pre-Professional Program
AGES 10-18
The Joffrey Academy’s Pre-Professional Program is designed to meet the highest artistic standards. The artistic staff trains dancers to develop a strong foundation in classical ballet, while also offering a well-rounded curriculum in various styles of dance to create a versatile, professional dancer.
Conservatory Program
AGES 14-18
The Conservatory Program is a full-time training program for students who are seeking an intense daytime training program that allows for outside independent academic study. The program’s unique curriculum is designed to prepare students for the rigorous demands of a Trainee program.
Contemporary Ballet Trainee Program
AGES 17-22
The Joffrey Academy’s Contemporary Ballet Trainee Program is a full-time, one-to-two-year program preparing students for a career in concert dance.
Ballet Trainee Program
AGES 17-22
The Joffrey Academy’s Ballet Trainee Program is a full-time, one-to-two-year program for students preparing for a professional dance career.
Studio Company
AGES 17-22
The Joffrey Studio Company is the premiere level of training at the Joffrey Academy of Dance. These students show exceptional promise in the field of ballet and receive training to expand their technique and artistry while having a unique insight into the life of a professional dancer.
Adaptive Program
The Joffrey Academy of Dance's Adaptive Program offers the opportunity for students with diverse movement abilities to learn and enjoy the elements of dance.
Adult Division
AGES 15+
The Joffrey Academy’s Adult Division is designed for adult dancers of all abilities, whether a student has years of dance experience, is a former dancer of any kind, or wants to learn dance for the first time.
Master Class Series
The Master Class Series provides the opportunity for select Academy students to work with members of The Joffrey Ballet. Led by featured Joffrey Company Artists, each week offers a distinctive experience with rotating teachers and content, making no two classes the same.
Summer Programs
The Joffrey Academy's Summer Programs include both auditioned and non-auditioned programs for all ages and abilities, starting at 3 years old and going all the way up through our Adult Division.

Founded in 2010, the Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet provides students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds with a world-class education, built on a foundation of classical ballet.
