The Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet is thrilled to offer a Master Class Series that provides the opportunity for Academy students to work with members of The Joffrey Ballet. Led by featured Joffrey Company Artists, each week offers a distinctive experience with rotating teachers and content, making no two classes the same.

What is the Master Class Series?

The Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet is offering a Master Class Series taught by various Joffrey Company artists and professionals. This two-and-a-half-hour class features 90 minutes of a traditional ballet class paired with 60 minutes of varying class content. Class content may include strengthening and conditioning, learning company repertoire, guest lectures, and more. On special occasions, ballet classes may be substituted with off-site performances, meet and greets, and other opportunities. Class content and location are subject to vary. Students interested in dancing on pointe in this class must currently be working on pointe outside of this class; all other students are welcome to participate in ballet slippers.

Who can sign up for the Master Class Series?

This series is available to Dance Lab Program Ballet V, Pre-Professional Program Levels V and VI, Conservatory, Contemporary Ballet Trainee, Ballet Trainee, Studio Company, and advanced dancers in the Adult Division. Because our Adult Division is open to the public on a drop-in basis, any advanced dancers in the Chicago community or those visiting the area are welcome to join. The Master Class Series features drop-in classes that can be registered for on an individual basis. Registration for Dance Lab Ballet V, Conservatory, Contemporary Ballet Trainee, Ballet Trainee, Studio Company, and Adult Division students may be completed in the same way registration occurs for all Adult Division classes. To learn more about registration, please visit our Adult Division webpage. Students in Pre-Professional Program Levels V and VI do not need to register on an individual basis, as the Master Class is part of their weekly class schedule.
