Chair of the Joffrey Board of Directors
Anne Kaplan is an owner and designer at Insight Environmental Design, an interior design firm in Chicago. Kaplan joined the Joffrey Board in spring of 2011 and has served on the Executive Committee as Vice Chair, in addition to the Development, Strategic Planning, and Campaign Planning Committees.
In addition to the Joffrey, Kaplan has been a member of the board of the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago since 2003 and served as board chair of the MCA from July 2015 to June 2018.
Besides the Joffrey and the MCA, Kaplan has supported numerous philanthropic efforts in the Chicago area, including Chicago Cares, Marwen, and the Chicago Architecture Biennial. She also serves as a Trustee of The Mayer & Morris Kaplan Family Foundation, which is dedicated to advancing educational opportunities for young people and promoting the sustainability of our natural environment. The Kaplan Family Foundation supports many organizations in Chicago, including University of Illinois at Chicago, Loyola University, North Lawndale College Prep, and Bottom Line.
Kaplan is a longstanding supporter and patron of the Joffrey — her late husband Burt Kaplan served on the Joffrey Board from 2002 until his passing in 2011. Kaplan was born in Madison, Wisconsin, and attended Connecticut College for Women and Roosevelt University, where she received a philosophy degree. She lives in Highland Park.
