The Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet presents performances throughout the academic year, including our widely-acclaimed Winning Works Choreographic Competition.

The Grainger Academy's performance opportunities give students a chance to experience the stage in a professional setting. Students will have an opportunity to perform and will be exposed to rehearsal, costuming, theater etiquette, and much more.

Joffrey Tower Black Box FAQs

Find answers to frequently asked questions for our shows hosted in our black box theater at Joffrey Tower. These performances include the Academy Fall and Spring Programs. The answers to these questions are not accurate for our annual Winning Works production.

This performance takes place on the 4th floor of Joffrey Tower at 10 E. Randolph Street, in the Black Box Theater (Studio A). Guests may enter through the first-floor lobby. The elevator to the 4th floor will unlock for guests 30 minutes prior to the performance.

No. Tickets will be held at will call and can be picked up and checked in in the first floor lobby prior to the show.

To purchase accessible seating for the performance, please select the Accessible Seating option when checking out. Requesting accessible seating after purchasing tickets may result in payment of a ticket transfer fee.

There is an Inter-Park parking garage located next to Joffrey Tower at 20 E Randolph St that charges by the hour. Individual parking stickers are available for purchase for $17 at Joffrey Reception. Additionally, there is limited paid street parking in the surrounding area.

Seating in our Black Box Theater is not assigned, so you may sit wherever you'd like. Seats are not able to be reserved in advance, aside from accessible seating which must be reserved through purchasing accessible seating tickets.

Tickets will not be available to purchase at the door. We highly recommend purchasing your tickets well in advance to ensure seating at your preferred performance. Tickets may be purchased online up until the show starts.

Doors and elevators to the performance close 10 minutes after the performance begins. Admission after the doors close is not permitted. For sold-out performances, tickets not checked in 5 minutes before the performance begins may be released to patrons on our waitlist.

Tickets are non-refundable.

Unfortunately, we are unable to offer a waitlist this show. If the show sells out, we recommend checking back each day leading up to the show to see if anyone has cancelled tickets, making more available to purchase.
