Group Master Classes
Have a group of dancers wanting to take class with one of our esteemed faculty members? Request a Group Master Class!
Group Master Classes are private one-time classes that provide your group of dancers a private educational experience with one of our esteemed faculty members.
Group Master Classes can:
- Have anywhere from 4-40 dancers
- Be anywhere from 60-120 minutes long
- Take place at Joffrey Tower or South Loop Studios
- Be in a number of dance styles including ballet, contemporary, modern, and jazz
Specific instructors may be requested but cannot be guaranteed. Often, instructors are suggested and assigned based on the group's requests and needs. To request a Group Master Class, you can find the request form in our resources below.
Academy Resources
Class Rates:

1-Hour Class
4-12 students: $300 / $350
13-25 students: $375 / $425
26-40 students: $450 / $500
1.5-Hour Class
4-12 students: $450 / $500
13-25 students: $562.50 / $637.50
26-40 students: $675 / $750
2-Hour Class
4-12 students: $600 / $700
13-25 students: $750 / $850
26-40 students: $900 / $1000
Group Master Class requests must be submitted no later than two weeks prior to the desired date. Grainger Academy will do its best to accommodate date, time, and faculty requests, however, cannot guarantee that your exact request will be fulfilled.
Refund Policy
The Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet does not offer any refunds for missed or canceled classes, withdrawal, or dismissal from the class/program. By registering for classes and programs, students agree that they are liable for the full amount indicated on any Grainger Academy materials and will adhere to any payment plans or scheduled payments put in place.
Arrival/Departure Policy
We kindly ask that students arrive no more than 30 minutes prior to the start of their class and leave promptly within 15 minutes of their class ending. This is to ensure the safety of all students at the Academy and the security of our buildings.
Photos/Videos Policy
The Grainger Academy of The Joffrey Ballet does not permit photos and/or videos to be taken of any classes, students, or instructors. Exceptions include those with an active private studio rental and Observation Weeks.
Adult Division
The Grainger Academy’s Adult Division is designed for dancers ages 15+ and of all abilities, whether a student has years of dance experience, is a former dancer of any kind, or wants to learn dance for the first time. All classes are fun, educational, and challenging for anyone interested in dance. Online registration is required in advance.
Master Class Series
The Master Class Series provides the opportunity for Academy students to work with members of The Joffrey Ballet. Led by featured Joffrey Company Artists, each week offers a distinctive experience with rotating teachers and content, making no two classes the same.
