Derrick Agnoletti is Everyone’s Favorite Renaissance Man
Derrick Agnoletti is a renaissance man. As a student at the University of California, Irvine, he somehow managed to study dance while also squeezing in time as a member of the UC water polo team. He still dabbles in sociology (his former major), and fills his afternoons burning up the treadmill at Barry’s Bootcamp.
All this to say that Agnoletti is a rare talent, which keeps him in good company among his peers. He’s loved and beloved, respected and appreciated. His extensive repertoire with the Joffrey is a thing of legend, dancing everything from the nuanced work of Joffrey Co-Founder Gerald Arpino to the audience-favorite Court Jester in Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella.
We could go on about Agnoletti’s virtuosity, but we’d rather you learn about it directly from him. In this episode of On Cue, Agnoletti shares his journey to the Joffrey, growing up as a native son of Southern California, where he began his early training, and how his big Italian family is always the life of the party.
