Katie Rafferty

Jazz Teaching Artist.


Katie Rafferty started her dance training at Kay’s Act II dance studio in Trevose, Pennsylvania, in addition to summer training at the Pennsylvania Ballet’s Rock School. She graduated magna cum laude from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia with a B.F.A in Jazz Dance Performance. Attending UArts under a Promising Artists Scholarship, she was awarded the Outstanding Jazz Dance Performance Award. Rafferty is a company dancer with Giordano Dance Chicago where she worked her way from Giordano II and Performing Associate. Rafferty has worked with the Xhale Dance Company in Philadelphia and continues to dance as a guest performer in Disney’s Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. As a part of the Giordano company, she has the opportunity to choreograph for the Barrington Choreography Project and Dancing with the Giordano Stars as well as teach an outreach program that brings health, science, and dance into CPS elementary schools. She enjoys passing on the legacy of the Giordano technique with the young generation of dancers.
