Matthew Adamczyk joined The Joffrey Ballet in 2003 as an Arpino Apprentice and was promoted to full company member in August 2005. Born in Ware, Massachusetts, he trained at the Harid Conservatory in Boca Raton, Florida, where he was a recipient of the Rudolf Nureyev Education Fellowship as well as The Jeannot B. Cerrone Award for Excellence in Performance.

 

Mr. Adamczyk’s repertory with The Joffrey Ballet includes Cinderella, Celebration, The Clowns, Creative Force, Giselle, Light Rain, The Nutcracker, Opus Jazz, Petrouchka, Les Presages, Romeo and Juliet, Square Dance, Tensile Involvement, and Viva Vivaldi. Matthew performed the role of “Bottom” in Ashton’s The Dream and “The Profiteer” in The Green Table, as well as assisting Donald Byrd in creating the roles. Matthew has danced in Motown Suite and To Know Her.

 

Outside of dancing, Mr. Adamczyk enjoys traveling, cooking, listening to music, painting, reading, and spending time with friends.  He is also an accomplished artist and has had original works on Exhibition at the Guggenheim Museum in New York City.
