Yuka Iwai joined The Joffrey Ballet in 2017.

 

Ms. Iwai, born and raised in Japan. She received her training at the Reiko Koyanagi Ballet Studio under the direction of Reiko Koyanagi. In 2014, Ms. Iwai joined the Trainee Program at the Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet. In 2015, she was promoted to the Joffrey Studio Company.  While at the Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, Ms. Iwai danced many roles in ballets including The Nutcracker Suite, Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia, Don Quixote Suite, Viva Vivaldi, and George Balanchine's Serenade.

 

 

In 2014, she placed 1st in the Tohokushibu Ballet Competition and 2nd at the All Japan D.A.T.E competition. In 2015, Ms. Iwai was a YAGP New York finalist and won 1st prize at the YAGP Chicago semifinal. In 2016, she finished in the top 12 in YAGP’s New York finals senior category and won 1st prize in the YAGP’s Chicago semifinal.
